Our Story

How New Dawn Began

From a single vision to the Inland Empire's trusted treatment center

New Dawn Behavioral Treatment was founded in 2016 with a clear and urgent purpose: to bring compassionate, clinically excellent addiction treatment to Moreno Valley and the broader Inland Empire. Our founders recognized that thousands of individuals in Riverside County were struggling with substance use disorders while quality treatment options remained hours away. They secured a facility on Sunnymead Ranch Parkway and assembled a team of licensed clinicians, physicians, and counselors who shared one belief: that every person deserves access to evidence-based care in a dignified, supportive setting.

In the years since opening our doors, New Dawn Behavioral Treatment has grown into one of the most respected addiction treatment centers in Southern California. We have expanded our clinical programs, strengthened our medical detox capabilities, and deepened our commitment to treating the whole person, not just the substance use disorder. Our treatment center sits in the heart of Moreno Valley, surrounded by the sun-drenched landscape of the Inland Empire, offering residents a calm and restorative environment in which to focus entirely on healing and recovery.

What continues to set our facility apart is the way we combine medical rigor with genuine human connection. Every member of our team, from our Medical Director to our front-desk staff, is trained to approach each individual with empathy, respect, and a commitment to personalized care. At New Dawn Behavioral Treatment, recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process. It is a carefully guided journey built around the unique needs, strengths, and goals of every person who walks through our doors.

Our Approach

Evidence-Based Addiction Treatment

A holistic, whole-person philosophy that addresses mind, body, and spirit

New Dawn Behavioral Treatment uses a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to addiction treatment that addresses the whole person, not just the substance use disorder. Our clinical philosophy recognizes that lasting recovery requires attention to the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of addiction. When a new resident arrives at our Moreno Valley treatment center, our multidisciplinary team conducts a thorough assessment that becomes the foundation for an individualized treatment plan designed around their unique history, needs, and goals.

We believe there is no single therapy that works for everyone. Instead, our licensed therapists draw from a range of proven modalities, adjusting the treatment plan as each person progresses through care. Group sessions foster accountability and shared understanding. Individual counseling provides a private space to address trauma, co-occurring mental health conditions, and personal triggers. Family therapy repairs relationships damaged by addiction and equips loved ones with tools to support long-term sobriety. At every stage, our on-site physicians and nurses ensure medical safety and comfort.

Our treatment center also integrates holistic practices such as yoga, mindfulness meditation, art therapy, and fitness programming. These complementary therapies reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and help residents reconnect with their bodies. Combined with clinical interventions, our holistic offerings create a well-rounded recovery experience at our Moreno Valley campus.

Treatment Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Identify and reframe the distorted thinking patterns that fuel substance use. Residents learn practical coping strategies they can use long after leaving our facility.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Build skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Particularly effective for co-occurring mood disorders.

Group Therapy

Facilitated by licensed counselors at our Moreno Valley center, group sessions provide a supportive environment for shared experience, empathy, and healthy communication.

Individual Counseling

One-on-one sessions with a dedicated therapist provide a confidential space to explore personal trauma, triggers, and goals tailored to each individual's stage of recovery.

Family Therapy

Addiction affects the entire family. Our sessions rebuild communication, establish healthy boundaries, and equip loved ones with tools to support sustained recovery.

12-Step Facilitation

Our clinicians guide residents through the foundational principles of 12-Step recovery, connecting them with local meetings in Moreno Valley and surrounding Inland Empire communities.

Holistic Therapies

Yoga, guided meditation, art therapy, and fitness programming complement clinical treatment, reducing stress and giving residents healthy outlets for emotion.

Recovery Stories from New Dawn in Moreno Valley

Hear from individuals and families who found hope and lasting recovery at our treatment center

"I spent years telling myself I could handle everything on my own, and every year the drinking got worse. When I finally walked into New Dawn in Moreno Valley, I was exhausted and afraid. The residential program gave me the structure and safety I needed to start over. My therapist helped me understand the trauma I had been avoiding for decades, and the group sessions connected me with people who actually understood what I was going through. I am thirteen months sober now, and I genuinely look forward to each new day."
Anthony M. Residential Treatment
"The detox process was the part I dreaded most, but the medical team at New Dawn made it so much more manageable than I expected. Dr. Park adjusted my medication carefully and the nurses checked on me around the clock. Transitioning into residential treatment felt seamless, and by the time I left the Moreno Valley campus I felt stronger than I had in years."
Jessica R. Detox + Residential
"I needed treatment but could not step away from my job and family responsibilities. New Dawn's intensive outpatient program was the perfect fit. Three evenings a week I drove to the Moreno Valley facility for group therapy and individual counseling, and the flexibility allowed me to keep my life moving forward. The CBT techniques I learned are tools I use every single day, and the 12-Step connections the team helped me build have become a lasting support network."
Carlos D. Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
"For most of my twenties I tried to manage severe anxiety and depression by self-medicating with opioids. Every other program I tried only addressed one problem at a time, and I kept relapsing. New Dawn was different. The dual diagnosis program treated both my mental health conditions and my addiction together from day one. The DBT skills group gave me tools I had never encountered before, and my psychiatrist finally found a medication plan that worked. The campus on Sunnymead Ranch Parkway is peaceful and warm, and being there helped me actually focus on getting better. I left New Dawn with clarity, a relapse prevention plan, and genuine hope for the first time in years."
Brianna L. Dual Diagnosis
"Watching our daughter battle addiction was the hardest experience our family has ever faced. New Dawn's family therapy program included us from the very beginning and taught us how to support her without enabling. The family visiting area felt welcoming and private, and the staff kept us informed throughout the entire process. She completed the program, and today she is building a life we are proud of."
